The Free City of Tanyth
The Free City of Tanyth is the primary setting for Wizards & Warlords weekly games.
Unlike the kingdoms, nations, and clans of Tymora, Tanyth stands independent. People from every race, culture, faith, and background can be found within its walls, all seeking opportunity, fortune, influence, or a fresh start.
Tanyth is a city of freedom and for many is its a place where fortunes are made and lost.
Why Is Your Character Here?
[edit]Every character has a reason for coming to Tanyth.
Some seek wealth, glory, knowledge, or adventure. Others arrive as exiles, outcasts, refugees, or wanderers searching for a new purpose. Whatever their reason, Tanyth offers something few other places can: the opportunity to reinvent yourself.
This is one of the few places in Tymora where people who would normally be enemies can find themselves working side by side. Rival cultures, clans, faiths, and factions often set aside old disputes in pursuit of shared goals, mutual benefit, or simple survival.
A Scion and a Forsaken may distrust one another. A Seeker of Forgiveness may disagree with a Seeker of Vengeance. A Draken who abandoned their clan may find common ground with another who did the same. Such rivalries still exist, but in Tanyth they rarely prevent people from working together.
Most importantly, your past matters less here than your actions.
A famous knight, respected scholar, or feared warlord may be celebrated in their homeland, but in Tanyth they are simply another newcomer seeking opportunity. Reputation is earned.
What Are You Trying to Achieve?
[edit]Characters seek to build their reputation, earn wealth, forge alliances, uncover secrets, gain influence, and leave their mark upon the city. Some dream of founding powerful organisations. Others seek forgotten knowledge, political influence, personal glory, or simple survival.
Whatever your goal, Tanyth provides the opportunity to pursue it.
Tanyth and Weekly Games
[edit]Tanyth serves as the central hub for weekly games. Most weekly games represent conflicts, contracts, opportunities offered by Benefactors, and events occurring in and around the city.
While all Wizards & Warlords chapters are considered part of the same Free City, each chapter represents a different district, territory, or sphere of influence within Tanyth. Characters travelling between chapters are not leaving the city, but moving between different parts of it. This allows all chapters to share the same setting, history, and ongoing story while maintaining their own local identities and conflicts.
As your character participates in adventures across these districts, they will build their reputation, earn experience, forge alliances, make enemies, and become an increasingly important part of Tanyth's ongoing story.
Beyond Tanyth
[edit]While weekly games focus on Tanyth, adventures are not limited to the city itself.
Weekend events, campaigns, and special adventures may take characters anywhere across Tymora. From distant kingdoms and ancient ruins to dangerous wildernesses and forgotten battlefields, these adventures explore parts of the world far beyond Tanyth's walls.
No matter where their journeys take them, characters eventually return to Tanyth. The city remains their home, a place to recover, pursue new opportunities, build relationships, and continue their story.
