The greatest Scion settlements stand within the ancient Shining Cities, magnificent centres of learning, governance, and magical achievement founded during the age of the Forsworn. Their elegant towers, marble streets, and sprawling libraries remain symbols of civilisation throughout Carcer, drawing scholars, diplomats, and pilgrims from every corner of the world.

Yet not every Scion chooses city life. Members of different Orders often establish homes better suited to their philosophies. Nomads travel constantly aboard ships that sail both sea and sky. The Masks hide their enclaves beneath forgotten ruins or deep within enchanted forests. The Burials maintain secluded necropolises and temple complexes where they guard the relics and resting places of the Forsworn. The Eternal War occupies remote fortress monasteries positioned along mountain ranges, wilderness frontiers, and other places where they believe ancient threats may one day emerge.

Despite these differences, all Scions recognise the Shining Cities as the spiritual heart of their civilisation. Important ceremonies, gatherings of the Orders, and matters affecting the future of their people inevitably draw them back to these sacred places.
